| Alan is known for his emotive land and seascapes in oils. He has been painting professionally since 1985, prior to this he worked for the forestry commission where the love of natural surroundings and wildlife reflected in his paintings was developed. Living in the South West Alan finds an endless supply of inspiration for his work and is often to be found sitting atop a lonely Tor or waiting by the rising tide, absorbing the atmosphere of a place and committing it to memory. Upon returning to his studio in Plympton he is able to translate into colours, brushstrokes and washes the rugged beauty of Dartmoor, turbulent seas or the dying light on a winters day. He produces paintings of many sizes from miniatures to full-scale 8ft canvases, but each one demonstrates tremendous attention to detail and masterful technique for which is he becoming increasingly sought after. | |||||
