Ross Emerson graduated with a BA Hons form the College of Loughborough in 1977 and went on to spend eighteen months at Dartmoor Pottery Training. He travelled America for a year, visiting and working for potters before returning home to set up his first workshop on the edge of Dartmoor. He has lived and worked for the past 14 years in a beautiful area of the Blackdown Hills, "...my studio stands on stilts in a wet & sloping area surrounded by bamboos and Giant Gunerra; lovingly referred to as the 'mangrove swamp'..." All of his work, with the exception of a few thrown pots, is hand built using slabs of earthenware clay cut from a block. He is exhibited throughout the UK and also Holland, Germany and the USA.
